The Blessed Mother Mary appeared to Sister Justine Bisqueyburu in Paris, France, on January 28, 1840.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn the fifth of a series of apparitions, On the Feast of the Nativity of Mary, Sept. 8th, 1840, Mary appeared holding in her right hand her Immaculate Heart, mounted by flames and holding in her other hand a scapular.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt the same time an interior voice revealed to Sister Justine that Jesus desired to establish among mankind a more tender and confident appreciation and love of His Most Beloved Mother by means of devotion to her through the title of her Immaculate Heart....\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eJustine was hesitant at first, but eventually revealed the devotion to her Spiritual Director Fr. Aladel (also the director of St. Catherine Laboure of the Miraculous Medal). After some delay, the green scapulars were produced and distributed with many conversions and cures occurring.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Green Scapular emphasized the theme of Mary’s Immaculate Conception. Bl. Pope Pius IX twice strongly recommended its promotion and use.\u003cbr\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cb\u003ePromises \/ Benefits of the Green Scapular:\u003c\/b\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e1. Conversion of those who do not have the Faith.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e2. Reconciliation to the Church for those who have lost or strayed from the Faith.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e3. Assurance of a happy death.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4. Strengthening of the Faith for those already in the Holy Catholic Church.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e5. Wear or carry the scapular\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e2. To help another, place it in their vicinity (room, under pillow, other place)\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e3. Pray, at least daily: \u003cstrong\u003e“\u003ci\u003eImmaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us now and at the hour of our death.\u003c\/i\u003e”\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e4. The prayer should be said for oneself and separately for each person to whom it has been given (unless they pray themselves).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e5. No enrollment of any kind is necessary, but each green scapular should be blessed by a priest (general blessing of sacramentals).\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e6.
